Sourced entirely from our Queenston Road Vineyard in the warm St. David's Bench sub-appellation. Fruit was fermented in small batches with manual punchdown of the cap followed by 31 months ageing in predominantly American oak [50% were new wood]. Individual barrel selection yielded a 9 barrel blend typifying what we have some to associate with QRV Merlot. 160, cases, bottled June 2010. This 'Big Bomber' will benifit from age: 2014 - 2020

• “This is NOT the kind of Merlot your momma drinks. Oh, no. The fruit for this “beast,” as Power calls it, was fermented in small batches with manual punchdowns of the cap followed by 31 months aging in predominantly American oak (50% new wood). Individual barrel selection yielded a nine-barrel blend with just 160 cases produced. It’s a big bruiser with aromas of plum, black cherry, barnyard-earth notes to go with toasted oak and swirling spices. This definitely needs time to all come into balance as the fruit is just starting to emerge from the oak, spice and tannins.
